Self Defence Training

Many people come to me and say they have a background in a sport martial art and that they want to learn some street fighting. Now street fighting isn’t as cut and dry as say 2 people boxing in the street. Our basis of how to fight is based on a mix of boxing, muay thai, submission wrestling..in effect its a mixed martial art. However one of the big differences which you will see in the street isn’t which techniques that you can use, its how the fight starts.

Mixed Martial Arts

Every sport fight whether its in a ring, in a cage or on the mats typically starts from an equally advantaged starting point. On the street, the attacker often will not give you that chance and you will start from a weak starting position. This is something we actively train in our classes.

We still train separate systems, we often box, wrestle, kickbox etc but we also dictate a reasonable amount of time into training against armed opponents, bigger attackers, sucker punches and weak starting points. These are elements in which combat sports don’t train.

Train for the fight you don’t want, not for the fight you do want

You still need to train how to fight, the students ability to perform under pressure relates to how well trained they are. How well conditioned mentally and physically to work under pressure. We don’t offer aggression free classes, we offer to train you how to deal with aggression so that when it happens you don’t sh*t yourself.
